TOKYO, March 30, 2021 – FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) and TradeWaltz Inc. (President: Hirohisa Kojima) are pleased to announce the trial launch of the “TradeWaltz®”*1 platform for sharing trade information.
In this trial, FUJIFILM Holdings adopts the TradeWaltz® platform, which enables centralized management of trade operations in the form of electronic data for the verification of the platform’s benefits. This is the first time TradeWaltz® is used in the manufacturing industry.
Trade operations involve a wide range of stakeholders including manufacturers, logistics company, insurers, banks and customs agents, who handle procedures required for importation and exportation. Trade operations include processing a large number of highly confidential documents such as a bill of lading*2 and a letter of credit*3. Associated documents are prepared in hardcopies and mailed out, which is time consuming. Also, trade operations involve heavy workloads as different industries use different systems, forcing workers to transcribe received information into their systems.
TradeWaltz® is a trade information sharing platform that centrally manages trade documents in the form of electronic data. It uses a blockchain*4 technology, which has a data structure resistant to tampering, to offer a high level of security. In TradeWaltz®, industry stakeholders can share various documents on the same platform, with each given the ability to edit data including entering additional data. Users can also check progress in real time, facilitating smooth implementation of necessary trade procedures. Past demonstration showed approximately 40～60% reduction in time required for trade operations, verifying substantial streamlining.
FUJIFILM Holdings starts using TradeWaltz® to promote digital transformation (DX) of its trade operations in the global production and marketing structure, which has many sites throughout the world. TradeWaltz® is introduced, on a trial basis, to FUJIFILM Holdings’ logistics subsidiary, FUJIFILM Logistics Co., Ltd. FUJIFILM Holdings implements the platform in trade operations for products by Fujifilm and Fuji Xerox to verify its benefits. The results of this trial will be examined in considering the full-scale introduction of TradeWaltz®.
This trial also involves Fujifilm Group’s logistics partners, MOL Logistics Co., Ltd. and Maruzen Showa Unyu Co., Ltd.
FUJIFILM Holdings promotes DX, based on ICT technology, in a variety of business categories to streamline work operations and create innovative products and services.
TradeWaltz will increase users for TradeWaltz®, which has expanded to the current seven companies*5 thanks to this trial, thereby contributing to the streamlining of trading operations.
Notice: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. will be changing its corporate name to FUJIFILM Business Innovation Corp. as of April 1, 2021.
