Notably, FUJIFILM Corporation has achieved the highest number of awards among all the award winners, with 37 of its products being recognized, marking the sixth consecutive year for this accomplishment. The ECHELON Smart ZeroHelium, a 1.5 tesla superconductive MRI system, has been distinguished with the Good Design Gold Award*2.

In developing a wide range of products and services, Fujifilm has pursued a high level of functionality and performance, while working on developing designs that bring out the full potential of the excellent functionality and performance. This year, 27 products received the iF Design Award and 19 products received the Red Dot Design Award. In the IDEA, mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM GFX100 II” in combination with the vertical battery grip “VG-GFX100 II” won the "Bronze" award. In Japan, the company has received the Good Design Award for 42 consecutive years since 1983. These achievements demonstrate high recognition for design excellence of Fujifilm products in and outside Japan.

Fujifilm strives to create new value of products and services by not only pursuing exterior design aesthetics but also exploring designs that facilitate ease of use and advanced functionality.

  • *1 The Good Design Award is Japan's only comprehensive design evaluation and promotion program launched by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (today's Japan Institute of Design Promotion) in 1988, based on the Good Design Selection System (G Mark System) established by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (today's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) in 1957.
  • *2 Award given to 20 products with the highest level of recognition, selected from the Good Design Best 100 winners.

1.5 tesla superconductive MRI system “ECHELON Smart ZeroHelium” <Good Design Gold Award>

ECHELON Smart ZeroHelium, a 1.5 tesla superconductive MRI system achieves complete zero liquid helium usage by adopting a magnet structure that efficiently propagates the ultra-low temperature produced by the refrigerator and cools the magnet. This contributes to stable operation even if liquid helium becomes difficult to obtain. In addition, it eliminates the risk of an explosive helium release in the event of a superconducting failure. By removing the need for a quench pipe, has been eliminated, the system offers greater installation flexibility, making it suitable for locationgs with size constraints, such as rooms with low ceilings or high-rise buildings where quench pipes cannot be installed.

Judging Committee Evaluation Comments

In the field of MRI diagnostic technology, which is essential to modern medicine, the development of equipment that does not use helium was highly evaluated for both its approach and technological innovation. Considering the limited helium resources on Earth and the lack of domestic production, the significance of this development is even more pronounced. The high technological capabilities enabling the achievement of ultra-low temperature without using liquid helium will set a foundation for various future technological innovations, and is expected to invigorate new industry. In addition, the adoption of this new technology has not only made it possible to achieve zero liquid helium, but also to solve various issues, such as the benefits of not needing a quench pipe and the safety made possible by the new magnetic control method.
